From the Video…
Paula:
“If LMFMusic was around ten years ago or even three years ago that would have been so helpful because the major record labels are really difficult to get in touch with and it is next to impossible to get them to listen to your songs. The record labels have got so many thousands of people sending music into them every day and they can’t possibly listen to it all and they certainly can’t possibly sign all of the fabulous artists up. So it would have saved a lot of time and a lot of headache and made the transition much easier if LMFMusic had been around by then.”
“There are so many really great songs out there and fantastic song writers and great artists but unfortunately most of them never get heard by the masses and that is a real shame. So a company like LMFMusic can really help to launch a lot of those songs so the world can get to hear some of this fantastic music.”
Rodna:
“I think companies like LMFMusic are fantastic, for me as a music educator I have somewhere else now to send people that are talented, students, people that have written their own music and want to get it out there, I have got somewhere to send them, a pathway. And that is great, that is what music is all about.”
Colin:
“The process for people submitting their work entails them actually guaranteeing to the label that this work is original and that sounds that kind of easy oh, yeah yeah but that is really important because if it is not original and someone comes up points it out I can tell you the person who delivered that track is going to be in the firing line, fair and square. So it is very important that anyone puts in work take this very seriously that actually it is original and unfortunately it doesn’t matter even if it is an accident, copyright is not about intent, it is about actual copying so the fact that you have unintentionally copied something is almost as bad as intentionally copying. So you have got to be really really careful. Now that in the case of bookkeeping, keeping records, getting copies of your performer’s protection clearances, all those things I suppose once were looked after by record companies but now artists, the trade off for getting more of your money, you have to do more work, sorry but that is the way it goes. The new industry is much more dynamic, much more open and LMF is providing a kind of entry point that I think that is necessary to enable musicians to have more control of their careers than they had before.”
Paula:
“The way I see LMFMusic fitting into the music industry as a whole is it is kind of like two bodies of land where one big body is where most of the musicians in the world fit, song writers, singers, artists in general and that where all the gigs happen and the garage band recordings etc and then you have got this other untouchable body of land which is like the fully-fledged music artists of the world and there this huge lot of water in between and getting from this side to this side is really difficult and that is where I see LMFMusic being like a bridge. I personally was very lucky because the CEO of LMFMusic had some contacts with a major records label which gave us a direct link in but without that I don’t think any of our music would have really been, would have been able to get out there and be heard and we were very very lucky.”
Rodna:
“I think companies like LMFMusic are fantastic, it gives me a pathway now to send my students and other original artists to go and show people what they have got to offer no matter who you are and that is what music making is all about.”
